An author who is an artist and rides motorcycles?
Yes, Dianna Love and her husband are motorcycle enthusiasts. Here’s what Dianna has to say about two-wheeling:
“Back in the 90’s, my husband took a motorcycle class to sharpen skills he hadn’t used since he was in his early twenties, and then he bought a Harley Davidson FXR. I’m not a back seat rider, but I hadn’t ridden in a long time, so took a class and bought a Harley, too. Over the next few years, we really got into riding and traded up to touring bikes. My husband trained to be a motorcycle instructor during this time, too.”
“In recent years we moved from Harleys to Triumph then BMW motorcycles. And my husband started entering long distance rallies that are like extreme scavenger hunts on two wheels. He’s become a highly respected motorcycle instructor who spends days in all kinds of weather teaching others how to be safe on the highways. I’ve earned my Iron Butt Saddle Sore pin by riding 1000 miles in 24 hours. I actually did it in 17 hours. My current bike is an F 650 GS or a dual sport BMW that can go on the highway or off road.”
“My husband rides his BMW R 1250 GS many more miles than I do, in fact his GS has 100,000 miles on it. He’s won a rally, finished in the top ten in several others, and in 2010 he finished in the top 20 of the Iron Butt Association 5000 mile/5 day Rally. That particular finish earned him an invitation to be one of 100 international long distance riders in the IBA 11,000 mile/11 day rally in June 2011. That rally will cross the United States and Canada from coast to coast and back.”
“Ride safe and have fun.”
